Through our exploration of Japanese green teas, we’ve fallen in love with Gyokuro. Its name can be read as ‘jade dew’; shaded for up to three weeks lends a richer and sweeter taste.
Described as a delicate indulgence, this high quality green tea from Nagatani Tea Factory is a blend of two cultivars from the Kyoto prefecture. The cultivars are Gokoh and Ujimidori with Gokoh being a rich umami flavor and Ujimidori a lighter umami with a unique creamy and floral fragrance. The blend results in a balanced umami with very refreshing herbal notes.
Farm Highlight: We source our beautiful Organic Gyokuro directly from family owned and operated Nagatani Tea Farm outside of Kyoto, Japan. Yuta Nagatani, his father, and his grandfather operate this tea farm and factory in the heart of Japan’s historical tea production area; where they implement organic cultivation practices. The land has been owned and run by their family for more than 120 years.
